Enchanted Museum:
Exploring The Science of Art

Enter a world where NASA technology brings rainbows to life - a magical place where the paradoxes of vision are revealed and a visitor's shadow becomes part of an ancient sculptural frieze. Enchanted Museum: Exploring The Science of Art offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how art is created. In the Painting Gallery, the Sculpture Garden and the larger than life-size Rainbow Maze visitors connect the dots between ancient mosaics and mathematics, impressionist paintings and computer graphics, ancient history and contemporary art.

Enchanted Museum is a one-of-a-kind 3500 square foot exhibition that takes visitors behind-the-scenes to reveal how a work of art is created. This hands-on exhibit blends art, science, math and ancient history into a singular experience that is engaging for people of all ages and learning styles. Visitors use additive and subtractive color mixing to compose landscapes; feel the resistance of a real air hammer against marble, granite and sandstone; and place themselves into an ancient Egyptian frieze - discovering along the way the basic science concepts imbedded within these works of art.

Enchanted Museum is comprised of three main areas: the Painting Gallery, the Sculpture Garden, and the larger life-size Rainbow Maze.

Great Toys from our Childhood

National Tour
Kid Stuff bookings now available at discounted rates.

Hey Kids! Take a spin through Kid Stuff, an exhibition filled with the games and gadgets that have inspired childhood play and imagination for decades. All the classics are here--from Tonkas and Tinkertoys, to Colorforms and Cooties, to Raggedy Anns and Radio Flyers. Along with more than 200 vintage toys to see, there are nifty things to do. Get ready to throw Nerf balls at priceless crystal, have your picture take with a life-sized Barbie or G.I. Joe, dress Mr. Potato Head - and Carrot and Eggplant Head - and have much, much more toy fun that you've ever had before.

It's all part of the innovative exhibition Kid Stuff: Great Toys From Our Childhood, created by the Berkshire Museum and now on a National Tour. The exhibit has traveled to the Capitol Children's Museum, Washington, DC, Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, NJ, and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL, among other children's museums and science centers through the country.

Experience toys that call forth your own childhood as well as those of your children. While the exhibit's focus is toys, it is definitely not only for kids. The intergenerational appeal is the exhibit's strong point - the interaction occurs as children and adults share memories and experiences.

Based on the book Kid Stuff: Great Toys From Our Childhood, by David Hoffman, the 4,500-square-foot exhibition displays more than 40 classic toys and games - the most popular toys of the past fifty years - illustrated by hundreds of classic illustrations, period advertisements and vintage reels.
